Austria will assist Albania until December to convince Netherlands and
Greece, the two skeptical countries for starting the EU negotiations
this December.
Michael Linhart, General Secretary of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, met with the Albanian Minister of Integration in Tirana, Klaida Gjosha, and said that Austria favors our country, which needs strong lobbying with the EU partners.
“We will try to convince our partners for a positive vote. We will wait for the conclusions of the Council report. It is important to convince not only two EU countries, but all the member ones. Albania has progressed and everything is up to them. There are elections this year and if they fulfill all standards, I think there will be no problem for their path”, said Michael Linhart, General Secretary of the Austrian Foreign Ministry.
When asked by Top Channel if any member country has had reserves so far, Minister Gjosha said Albania needs to think about implementing the Vetting law, which is the only condition.
“Albania has the conditions to create a positive climate for implementing the reform. The day when Albania will start implementing the law, will be the date when Albania will progress”, said Klajda Gjosha, Minister of European Integration.
Austria is one of the initiators of “Friends of Albania”, a group that confirms the support of EU countries with the integration process.
