The month of august started with a high number of road accidents. For this reason the Traffic Police has set up checkpoints on some of the most problematic road axis in the country.
This patrol is located on the Durrës-Tirana highway, near Yzberisht, and in just one hour it says that has revoked 5 driving licenses and fined 20 drivers.
The action is part of the traffic police Operation called ‘RoadPol August 2020’, and according to the state police officials in just the last 48 hours, 1129 drivers have been fined for wrong and dangerous overtaking, thus turning into serious sources of road accidents.
What the police have described as disturbing, is also the use of alcohol as for this reason 9 drunk drivers have been arrested, and 49 licenses have been revoked for drivers who have been under the influence.
