During an open conversation on Facebook, the United States Ambassador in
Tirana, Alexander Arvizu, answered to the questions made by several
citizens, on the verge of the June 23rd elections.
Arvizu declared tat if the vote will be free and fair, as it should, the voters are the ones to decide when and how the rotation should take place.
Arvizu declared that the Albanian citizens deserve elections that comply with the international standards. “The more these elections will reach these standards, the fewer are chances for controversial results. I think that the people will know, same as the international community will know about this”, Arvizu declared.
When asked about the Central Election Commission, the ambassador declared that he has constantly spoken about the situation that has been created. “It is safe to say that we strongly believe that the Central Election Commission should be fully constituted. For this to happen, both parties should agree. It is never too late”, Arvizu declared.
The Ambassador writes that the political players must respect the rules of the game. As regards the United States of America and Albania, the Ambassador expects that they should keep being close and friendly.
