The United States Ambassador to Tirana, Alexander Arvizu, appreciated
the staff of the embassy for the extraordinary work in supporting the
Parliamentary elections on the June 23rd elections.
“Although most of the attention was on the election and counting process, we all know that the contribution of the United States embassy started earlier”, Arvizu declared.
He referred to the visit of the US State Secretary, Hillary Clinton, and her declaration in the Albanian Parliament, saying that “these elections were very important for the US and Albania, since they were a test of the constant democratic evolution of Albania and its European future”.
“We held strongly to this message with our appeal: Each of you, Albanians and Americans alike, should be proud for the contribution given by the United States Embassy and the support in these historic elections”, Arvizu declared.
The United States Ambassador added that he hoped that this period would mark a turning point in the modern political history of Albania.
“We hope that the enthusiasm of this campaign will include the wide concept of a good government in the future, a basic foundation for the Albanian just and democratic society that you are building, and that you and all Albanians deserve so much”, Arvizu commented.
