A seminary on human rights for homosexuals is being held in Tirana, led
by a panel composed of the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, Mayor Lulzim
Basha and Ombudsman Igli Totozani.

After a videoconference greeting from the US State Secretary, Hillary Clinton, Arvizu declared that respecting the human rights of this category of people is vital in a democratic society.

“All rights and dignity should be respected, despite the orientation, the way how we look. Attacks against homosexuals take place in every country. Defending them is not a strength, but a conviction”, Arvizu declared.

Mayor Basha’s speech was on the same line, underlining that the respect of human rights is indispensable.

Arvizu valued the work made by the Ombudsman, Igli Totozani, for defending the rights of the Roma people, when they were evicted from the habitation cottages and were sheltered at the Ombudsman’s building.
