The US Ambassador in Tirana, Alexander Arvizu, gave a long interview for
the chief editor of the Shqip Newspaper, Aleksander Cipa, in which he
mentioned sensitive political and social issues that took place in the
year that we are leaving behind.

Although the Ambassador has been serving in Albania for less than one year, during which he was direct and without hesitating to criticize, Arvizu has answered to questions related with the functionality of democracy and the Albanian institutions.

The US diplomat mentioned the extreme politicization of the Albanian society, not only by the majority and opposition, but also other officials that should serve to the people.

Arvizu expressed a series of dissatisfactions for this situation, saying that the citizens’ voice has been faded, without being able to be heard.

The Ambassador also mentioned the inequality that the Albanian citizens face in front of the law, suggesting that this situation should end as soon as possible.

He also answered to the questions related with two of the most sensitive issues in the Albanian justice, such as the Meta-Prifti case and January 21st events.

For the first time, Ambassador Arvizu confessed the involvement of the US administration in these two processes.

What has been the technical assistance of the prosecution? The way it was given? What does the ambassador Arvizu think about the new political course of Edi Rama? How easy or difficult will be the election of the President for the next year?

These and many other questions for the relations between the President, the PM, the maritime border with Greece, Albania’s NATO commitments, the relations with the neighbors, are answered in the next issue of “Shqip”, that will be published tomorrow Saturday 24th.
