Article 13, SMI: “Vetting for media outlets is unacceptable”

The Parliamentary Group leader of the Socialist Movement for
Integration, Petrit Vasili, said he is surprised by Article 13 of the
Anti-Corruption Prosecution reform, which could include vetting of media
outlets.

“This paragraph was not present in the draft we passed in the commission and cannot be accepted”, Vasili said, underlining that there is no institution in democracy that cannot be criticized.

“Media freedom is a vital dimension of democracy. I will request the removal of this paragraph”, Vasili declared.
