In the big residence of the former Albanian dictator, Enver Hoxha, in
the center of Tirana, artists and common people gathered to visit the
premises and see how the former dictator and his family used to live.

Ema Andrea was one of the organizers of this event. She was invited in Top Channel’s evening news show “Revista Televizive e Mbremjes”, hosted by Pandi Gjata, where she spoke about the feelings she had in the house, how this idea was born and what are other similar projects.

She said that the idea came from a cooperation with Klod Deda, an artist who always wants to have an approach to the contemporary art in Europe.

“We often speak about the past and people mention it very often, sometimes with pain. During a debate about what should be done with the objects that were considered untouchable so far, we had this desire to make this project come to life. We had the support of the Minister of Social Affairs, Erion Veliaj, and the Director of Civil Services, Kamela Vojka”, Ema Andrea declared.

The Albanian actor said she was happy that the villa opened with a contemporary art, since it carries a huge weight of history, and due to the past of the characters that used to live there, those who decided the fate of an entire people, the objects take a strange value. The most interesting rooms for Ema Andrea were the bedroom and the library, since that’s where the biggest decisions might have been taken.

When asked if someone reacted badly with accusations of “reviving the Dictator”, the Albanian actress said that the families of the former persecuted people have behaved with nobility, by not blaming everyone, and that art doesn’t provoke such feelings, but on the contrary, it brings down barriers and creates communication bridges that can also be misunderstood.
