Army’s drug traffic accusations

“I congratulated the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Prime Minister for how they addressed to this issue. I believe that you have the right leadership to make Albania progress”, Breedlove declared.

Then the high officer explained the changes that are expected during this year at the Alliance, after the Wales summit this September, and his evaluations for the Albanian army.

“Albania has played an important role in the Alliance, contributing in the stability that was established with difficulties in Kosovo, but also with the troops sent to Afghanistan, where we reached progress. We are facing a new security paradigm in Europe. We have started adapting to this environment that has changed with a series of measure, by increasing our activity in the air, land and sea through the entire Europe. While the September summit is approaching, oiur political leaders will take in consideration the ways to make sure that NATO will be more reacting in a long-term plan to the potential foreign threats. Albania played its role in these discussions”, Breedlove declared.

The Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, declared after the meeting with the General that she informed him about the steps that the Albanian government is taking.

“I informed General Breedlove about the reformation process that aims strengthening institutions, the economy, fighting corruption and traffics. I also informed Mr.Breedlove about the reforms at the Armed Forces and about Albania role in the region and beyond”, Kodheli declared.

General Breedlove met with the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, who expressed the readiness of Albania to contribute in international peace-keeping missions.
