The Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense were obliged to react after
an official document was published by the media, in which the Secret
Service informs the Ministry of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, that they have
reasonable doubts that the Gjader Airport was being used for drug
traffic.

The General Headquarters of the Armed Forces declared that there is no fact that might bring such suspicions.

The declaration underlines that the Armed Forces have documents from specialized structures of the Alliance which monitor the airspace of the Albanian Republic, and they confirm that no airplanes have used our airspace in the date and time quoted for the media.

The date quoted by the media as given by the Secret Service is March 19th, when a white tourist airplane landed in Gjader, and a white van was waiting for him. This made the Secret Service suspect of drug traffic.

The declaration of the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces says that “the Armed Forces don’t want to become part of the political debate between parties, and that the stance of the Armed Forces is supported for its verifications by domestic and foreign specialized forces. By obeying only to the law, the Armed Forces will give all evidence to the Prosecution and Parliament, in order to verify the situation”, the declaration says.
