Arms traffick, prosecutio denies Police declaration: “Weapons’ destination wasn’t Syria”

One day after the police operation that brought the arrest of eight
people who were suspected of trafficking arms and ammunition, the
Prosecution declared that their destination was not Syria, as the Police
had declared.

The investigators deny the declaration of the Police in an interview for Top Channel. They say that the group was trafficking the weapons in another country that is involved in a war.

“We had an undercover agent for more than one month. He bought guns from the suspects. The agent has said that he would sell the weapons in Greece, not in Italy. He never mentioned Syria”.

The main protagonist of this traffic is Sami Mema, 44. His collaborators are Artan Aruci, 42l; Alban Mancja, 29; Hergi Buli, 18; Festim Mema, 19; Shkelqim Varaku, 44; Clirim Xhaja, 39; Ervin Xhja, 28.

The suspects operated in Shijak and Durres. The police has seized six AK-47 rifles, 1 handgun TT,  five handguns “miniblow”, 1 “Scorpions” machine gun with silencer, 5 grenades, 2 hunting shotguns and considerable ammunition.

The Tirana Police Director, Ardian Cipa, declared that the police has suspicions that the group has trafficked weapons to Syria in the past.
