Archbishop Anastas: “The hysteria of communism reduced the religious interest of this holiday”

The Archbishop Anastas Ianulatos of Albania said during his message before Christmas that the meaning and celebration of Christmas is often altered in our secularized countries.

According to Anastas, the hysteria of communism and the spiritual indifference reduce the religious interest of this holiday.

“The church insists to reveal the essential meaning of the holiday, and that is that God is love. This love that attracts admiration and respect, is admitted as the main human value. But this love is being altered in so many ways, to the point that people ask themselves: Where is love that gets lost in erotism? Where is Eros that was lost among passions that cannot even be mentioned?”

“Let’s try to live love the way Christ taught us, full of modesty and social sensibility, without distinction. Merry Christmas”, Anastas declared.
