US Ambassador Yuri Kim held today several meetings with political leaders in the Elbasan region and then held a press conference where she made an appeal to voters whom she said must take in consideration US suspicions about the candidates for MPs.
“The United States has been very clear about our expectations for clean candidates. It is essential that political leaders take responsibility for ensuring that their lists comply with Albanian law, taking into account US recommendations.”
Regarding decriminalization, Kim stressed that the Secretary of State has identified three names to be declared ‘non grata’, but chose not to mention them. “There are 3 people that the US Secretary of State has identified as problematic, which I will not mention, but you can look for and find them. On the issue of lists, the US position is very clear and perhaps not diplomatic, and the parties have taken it into consideration, not all, but most of them”, Yuri Kim stated.
