For the members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania and
for Governor Ardian Fullani, the theft of 7.1 million USD might be a
closed matter after the meeting held yesterday, but this is not the case
for citizens.
They continued signing a petition for the ninth day, demanding Fullani’s resignation. The organizers say they have collected 9000 signatures so far.
Ajtanga Lubonja, formerly persecuted by the communist regime, has been collecting signatures for the past 9 days in front of the Parliament. All citizens who want to express their protest for the super-scandal of the Bank of Albania are invited to sign the petition.
But last night she received a threatening SMS on her cell phone.
“We know everything about you. We know who you are and what you do. You are serving to a policy decided from above with your petition. You might think you’re big, but you know nothing what happens to you. Look better around you. I’m talking to you because I want your own good. Don’t make us take harsh measures. Quit now that you are in time”, the message says.
Mrs.Lubonja reported this message at the police and kept doing what she has done these nine days.
“I am no afraid, and I’m not saying this to say that I’m brave, because I’m a person as all others. I come here every day and return home by night. I will continue with democratic methods. The people are very indignant about this”, she said.
The organizers say they will continue gathering signatures until reaching their goal for having a true governor on top of the Bank of Albania.
