Former Albanian Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj will be interrogated on Monday for questionable tenders in the health system, while a court session will be held for the conditions of the measure against him, the special anti-corruption court decided today.
The former minister has reacted on social networks, after the measure given by the Special Anticorruption Court, saying that he has decided not to appeal this decision and to submit willingly to the demands and guarantees that this investigative process requires.
The issue has to do with the sterilization tender of medical devices in Albanian hospitals.
Beqaj has also resigned from the leadership post of the State Agency for Strategic Program and Aid Coordination, according to him to avoid any possible misinterpretation of influence in this process.
“I hope that this matter is resolved quickly and completely, putting justice and truth above any prejudice or political attacks. I believe that what we achieved with the sterilization process in hospitals was a necessity and the best possible thing we could do”, he adds in the post.
