The Minister of Integration, Klajda Gjosha, involved the EU Commissioner
for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, with the recent issue created from the
International Monitoring Operation (IMO), part of the Judiciary Reform.
The Minister of Ilir Meta’s Socialist Movement for Integration Party explained the concern raised by the other Minister of the same party, Justice Minister Petrit Vasili, who called the IMO as anti-constitutional.
Gjosha explains to Hahn that Vasili’s concern is that there is no Constitutional law supporting the IMO’s presence in Albania. She also asked Commissioner Hahn, as a key actor in the efforts for reaching consensus on the judiciary reform, to intervene and bring back the consensual spirit.
Sources from the Foreign Ministry told Top Channel that this letter needs an approval from the Prime Minister before it is sent to this level, as the law requires.
Top Channel asked the government’s spokesperson if the approval was given, but there has been no reply.
