The international arrest orders released by the Italian government have
brought the arrest of another Albanian that was sentenced by our
neighbor country.

Police held the 39 year old Sokol Murati in the city of Fier, where some days ago was arrested Fatmir Kajolli, also sentenced by the Italian justice. However, the court gave for Kajolli a house arrest measure, while waiting for his extradition to Italy.

Murati is sentenced to 30 years in prison for organizing and participating in criminal organizations of drug traffic and prostitution.

This was the next arrest for the Italian justice, after others realized in Vlore, Tirana and Fier.

However, the most sensational arrest was that of Fatmir Kajolli. The Italian courts had sentenced him to 16 years in prison, and the verdict was issued 10 years ago. In the meantime, Kajolli was living as a successful businessman and active politician in the city of Fier, as City Council Member and vivid organizer of electoral campaigns, with close ties to high rank politicians.

When asked why these arrests are being performed now and not in the past, the Albanian Interior Minister, Bujar Nishani, says that it is due to the lack of mutual agreements with Italy, one of which was signed a few time ago.
