Another domestic violence tragedy

The 25-year-long marriage of Jazxhiu couple, parents of two, has ended
in tragedy. Edmir Jazxhiu, 51, shot to death his wife, Dallendyshe, and
then ended his life with the same weapon.

Before the crime the man was in a local bar. Police knows that Dallendyshe had asked the court for protection from him, but the request was suspended after the 50-year-old woman withdrew her request.

“They were nice people and they had no problems. I was shocked. She worked here and they seemed very well with each other”, says one of the residents.

“She was never worried. I don’t remember hearing any problem. Maybe the economic situation has affected them, but I’m not sure”, another one says.

Edmir Jazxhiu was known for consuming alcohol while they had also been having economic problems.

Residents say that the woman left the building because of the violence, and stayed at some relatives, but then she pardoned her husband and returned, which is what took the life of the mother of two.

The statistics of this kind of crime are reaching frightening proportions. The recent three cases took place only one month ago.

These tragedies pushed the Tirana Muslim Community and the Human Rights Group to organize a seminar regarding this phenomenon.

The representatives of both groups declared that the physical and psychological violence against women are seen in every area of our lives.

“The dignity of women is holy. Every woman comes to this world to bring another life”, declared Ylli Gura, Head of the Tirana Muftini.

“We need to talk about our society. If we don’t have a level of sensitivity that makes us be concerned about the women violence, then we cannot expect from our governments anything about this, since, after all, they are also a product of this society”, declared Elsa Ballauri from the Human’s Right Group.
