For the second consequent year, the “Dritan Hoxha” Media Foundation
awarded the best young journalist. In a ceremony that was held at the
Rogner Hotel premises, the 1000 EUR prize went to the student Saimir
Muzhaka for a report that he made for his hometown, Berat, and the
problems that surround it.
Top Media and “Dritan Hoxha” Foundation leaders were present in the ceremony, together with well-known journalists of the Albanian media.
The opening speech was held by the director of the “Dritan Hoxha” foundation, Vjollca Dako, who thanked everyone for participating. The leader of the Journalist Union, Aleksander Cipa, appreciated the great number of competitors and the goal of the foundation, which is to increase the professionalism in the Albanian journalism.
Publicist Remzi Lani valued the work of Top Media’s founder, Dritan Hoxha, who turned Top Channel into the school of professional journalism and a pan-Albanian icon.
The winner of the prize, Saimir Muzhaka, thanked everyone for the award and invited the young journalists to participate in similar initiatives, which, according to him, are rare in Albania.
The “Dritan Hoxha” Foundation award was given on the fourth anniversary of the tragic death of the Top Media’s founder.
Saimir’s report was chosen as the best journalist report against 300 others that were presented by the competitors, and will be published this Thursday on Shqip Newspaper.
