The ancient city of Amantia has been severely damaged by illegal diggers of tombs and archeological sites.
Archeologists in this ancient city have dug for identifying its values, but it has been forgotten since 1960. The silence of the monumental graves has been troubled by robbers.
Clear digging signs show that there have been people recently in the site, and they have destroyed almost everything. Two archeologists who were about to start working in the area were shocked by the destruction they found.
The Jew’s Tomb, a monumental grave that is their current archeological work object, has been damaged to the point that it might not be recovered anymore as a monument.
Experts started working there since July 2013, without being able to continue due to vandals, who have not only broken important slabs of stone, but they have also dug in some areas for robbing.
Unfortunately, the mania of treasury hunters is damaging many archeological values in Vlore and anywhere else in Albania.
