Ali Pasha Bridge falling apart

An ancient bridge, built since the time of Ali Pashe Tepelena, is on the
brink of destruction. Ali Pasha built it ton connect his castle with
the area that supplied him with food and materials.

The century old bridge is in critical situation today. It is not only without maintenance and losing its monumental and historical values, but it has turned into a dangerous place for the 1500 residents that have to cross it each day.

This bridge is crossed every day by merchants full of goods that they sell in the town of Tepelena, and more than 60 children from 3 to 15 years, who go to Tepelena kindergartens and schools. The bridge was completely restored 12 years ago, but the work quality made it turn as it was in a few years. The head of the Tepelene commune, Redi Rami, declared for Top-Channel that based on the existing documentation, the bridge has been restored several other times with partial funds, without giving a solution to the problem.

Known as the Ali Pasha bridge, this object is the longest bridge in the country, with a length of 250 meters. The commune is preparing a request for the status “culture monument”.
