The Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, has published new facts that according to him show the abuses of the oil concessions.
Brace declared that in 2008, Albpetrol changed the concessionary agreement of the Patoz Morinza field, in order to ease the tax burden of the private company that exploits this area.
“The amends of the 2008 agreement have been changed. Firstly, when the revenues divided by the expenses are less than 1, the company sees this as a deductible cost of 10% of the mining unearned income. But the worst is that when the income is equal to 1 ore bigger, the government recognizes as deductible expense 100% of the mining unearned income”, Brace declared.
The oil companies in Albania have not paid any taxes to the government for the last eight years, since they have always declared no income. With the legal amends that Albpetrol made to the law, with the government’s blessing, the companies are able to not pay any taxes even if they have incomes.
