The International Monetary Fund arrived in Tirana to renegotiate the new cooperation agreement with the Albanian Police.
Top Channel has learned that different from the previous 3-year-long program, this time there will be a calmer relation. IMF will not have an imposing role in the government’s economic policies, but only advisory.
Sources from the IMF and the Ministry of Finances say this is about an agreement that the Fund has with developed countries, including the USA and many other economies that are considered stable.
According to the Ministry of Finances, the economic situation in Albania is more stabilized and the country doesn’t face financial emergency conditions, as it did four years ago.
The economic growth has turned 4%, from 1% that it was in 2013, while the public debt has reached a stable trend. This year it is expected to go at 68.9% of the GDP.
The government says that main reason for choosing a lighter agreement, is the fact that the economic crisis was left behind.
