More than 100 Albanians living in Asti, Northern Italy, protested in
front of the Prefecture of their city for their right to be part of the
political life.
A few days ago, the Regional Commission of the Democratic Party, the Italian left center, suspended the Congress’s result due to the high number of Albanian voters. This participation of the Albanian community in the elections was interpreted as a vote manipulation.
For this reason, the Albanian community in Asti, which is made of 7000 people, reacted by not supporting any of the parties, but to oppose the prejudice against the participation of Albanians in the political and social life.
Especially for the fact that among the candidates there were two Albanians too, Hasan Bulcari and Marjan Bjeshkza, which has pushed more immigrants to vote. Some Albanian protesters met with the Mayor and Prefect of the city, who both guaranteed the cooperation of their institutions to prevent any kind of discrimination.
