Health spending has become a burden for the Albanian families, which are forced to pay a large portion of their revenues.
Recent official data from the World Bank show that 57% of the health spending in Albania is directly paid by families. The health budget only covers 43%.
This makes Albania the country that spends more for healthcare, in the entire region of Balkan. And it is not just that, but the difference to other regional countries is very high.
The government spends 2.9% of the GDP for the health system. Families cover the rest, up to 480 million ALL a year.
