The former Albanian President, Alfred Mojsiu, considered the clashes in
Skopje between Albanians and Macedonians as painful and unacceptable.
The former President appealed the neighboring government to be more responsible and treat the ethnic situations with more equality. He reminded that these relations almost caused a civil war in 2001. The co-existence guarantee is just the implementation of the Ochrid agreement, according to the former Head of State.
“This is not about accepting the agreement with words, but implementing it in practice. This should not be understood only by the Prime Minister and President, but also by common citizens. If Albanians are not considered as equals, then we don’t know for how long will they take it. Politics must be more careful”, Mojsiu declared.
The former President reminds Macedonia the benevolent stance of Albania, by respecting the good neighboring principles. Now that the region has entered a new integration phase, these acts are unacceptable, according to Mojsiu.
“We have been open and very benevolent with Macedonia. We gave them access at the Durres Port, as a humane action. Our country influenced a quick closure of the conflict in Macedonia”, Mojsiu declared.
