The Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, received the “Legion d’Honneur” title by the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
Kadare’s name was listed along 483 other noted figures who also received the title.
The Legion d’honneur title is divided into five degrees: Chevalier (Knight), Officier (Officer), Commandeur (Commander), Grand officier (Grand Officer), and Grand-croix (Grand Cross).
Ismail Kadare received the prestigious “Grand Officer title”.
Started by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, the Legion d’Honneur is among the highest national medals of France. Today it counts 92.000 members.
