20% of the foreign students in the Italian universities are Albanian. This is the unexpected figure revealed by a recent study that aims to measure the attracting capacity of Italian universities.

11,000 Albanians frequent the 77 Italian Universities, 15 times more than the French students and 34 times more than the Spanish.

After the Albanians, the second country with most students in Italy is Romania and then China. Many Albanian students are second generation immigrants, which mean that they have also followed the lower education levels in Italy; but many of them have also come from Albania only for studying.

According to the World Bank, there are 3.343.000 foreign students that study abroad, 19% of which, almost 627,000, study at American universities.

Only 2% of foreign students frequent the Italian universities, which shows a lacking of necessary policies in this field.
