The Albanian flag was raised this week in Europe’s highest peak, the Elbrus Mountain in Russia, 5642 meters above the sea.

An entire expedition made of Albanian, Serbian and Macedonian climbers was finalized successfully, after a long climbing under extreme cold and snow storms.

The 18-member expedition was realized in two phases and two heights. The first phase, the acclimatization one, started in Georgia, on the Kazbeg mountain, 5033 meters above the sea. The dangerous ice in that area did not stop the desire of these climbers to continue their mission.

The Albanian climbers from Elbasan are also known for reaching the top of Africa’s highest mountain, the Kilimanjaro.
