The poet and author of the lyrics of dozens of popular Albanian songs passed away today as a result of a serious illness in the hospital, where he had been admitted for several days.
Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on Facebook to the death of Jorgo Papingji.
“Farewell maestro Jorgo Papingji, the author of the love lyrics in the collection of the most sung Albanian songs. Rest in peace”, writes Rama.
The well-known poet was born in Vlora on June 10, 1942 and is an Albanian author and poet, known for his many song texts.
The artist has written 5 winning songs at the “National Festival”, one of which participated in the European Song Festival in 2014. Jorgo Papingi holds the artistic title of “Great Master”.
