The leader of the Muslim Community in Albania, Skender Brucaj, condemned
ISIS in an interview for Top Channel for what they are doing on behalf
of Islam.
“Isis is unfortunately damaging Islam and its image. What is happening there is inhuman, completely outside the religious values of Islam”, Brucaj declared.
European media outlets say that there are more than 100 Albanians that joined this organization. Brucaj mentioned the causes that push them to join ISIS, saying that Imams are working hard in mosques to inform Albanian believers what this war is really about.
“Those people who have gone there have social, individual and economic problems. They don’t go for religion there. Islam cannot be their motivation. We cooperate with imams and our mosques. We have often appealed in our prayers to inform the believers to stay far from the influence of these people, who want to bring a radical representation of Islam on behalf of religion, and who want to manipulate a group of devotees who have not been informed properly about the main principles of religion. One of these goals is to send them fight in Syria or Iraq, such as the case in question”, Brucaj said.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Community appealed the government to repeal the suspension of the Beder University.
The government’s control on universities brought a license suspension even for the universities of the Muslim Community in Albania. The Albanian Muslim Community say this school create theologians, different from some Arab schools in Albania where young boys are contacted by radical islamists.
“I hope that this suspension is revoked as soon as possible, so that we can fulfill our needs for human resources n Albania. The Albanian theologians should be closer to the values that we want to promote”, Brucaj declared.
