After the French Embassy, the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs reacted for the death of the 23-ear-old Albanian in Marseille, confirming that the Albanian embassy in France is following the case very closely.
The Ministry says that Beqiraj was found without senses in his cell, where he was kept by the local authorities for deporting him to Albania.
He received immediate medical care at the Marseille Nord hospital. The Prosecution of Marseille was notified on the same day and an investigation was opened for the case.
The body of Beqiraj was sent for an autopsy, which will be carried out in the days to come, as investigations continue.
The French Ministry of Interior announced that they will keep informing the Albanian embassy for all further information that may derive from the autopsy.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affais expressed their condolences to the families and guarantees the public opinion that defending the interests of Albanian citizens abroad is an absolute priority.
