After Albania became the first country signing the protocol for inviting Northern Macedonia to the NATO alliance, the Albanian President; opposition leader and former Foreign Minister issued a declaration to greet the achievement of the neighboring country.
“Congratulations to the visionary political leaders and citizens of Macedonia for this deserved achievement, which will encourage the country’s further progress, and will also increase security and stability in the region”, said President Meta.
The opposition leader said that this is a great event for the entire region. “NATO-s expansion in the Balkan region will contribute to guaranteeing safety, peace and democratic values in the region”.
The former Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, said that the protocol proves the triumph of the Euro-Atlantic values in our region. “The vision and dedication shown through dialogue, for overcoming the disagreement that had suspended Northern Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, was able to win over the divisions of the past and to project a safer future for the region, for Europe and the NATO.”
