Albanian Foreign Ministry denies attending Jerusalem US Embassy inauguration
In December, Albania voted in favor of the UN resolution that condemned the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, moving their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
But, according to Al Jazeera, Albania was on the list of the 32 countries that attended the inauguration ceremony for the US embassy. The Albanian Foreign Ministry has denied this claim.
The Israeli Foreign Minister said they had sent invitations to 86 countries that have diplomatic missions in Israel. 33 of them confirmed the attendance, but Thailand and Nigeria cancelled it in the last moment.
Serbia and Macedonia as well attended the ceremony, which in December held the same stance as Albania in the UN. Romania, which abstained, joined the inauguration.
The ceremony was followed by violent protests in the Gaza Strip, with more than 55 Palestinians losing their lives, 2700 others were wounded.
