The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, reacted after the
declaration of the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, at the
congress of European Popular Parties.
Bushati said that the opposition leader just broke an unwritten, but basic rule of the public life, that politicians must not slander against their fatherland in foreign language and when abroad.
“Especially when it is known that serious European parties are not impressed by slanders or sinful tents, because they measure the real progress of reforms through the reports of international institutions”, Bushati said on his Facebook profile.
Bushati underlined that the recent European Commission report, which received unanimous support from the EU member countries, granted Albania a recommendation for starting EU accession negotiations.
“Lulzim Basha didn’t mention to European Popular Parties any single word about the judiciary reform, although we all have read the coordinated stances of the USA, EU and other European parties, addressed to the Democratic Party: 1) implementation of the Vetting law, 2) return to Parliament,3) conclusion of the judiciary reform in full accordance with the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations”, Bushati said.
According to the Foreign Minister, this would be the contribution for an Albania that goes safely towards the EU accession talks. “This means more security, welfare and progress for Albanians”, Bushati concluded.
