Albanian Foreign Minister in Helsinki, meets several EU counterparts

The acting Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, met with his counterparts from Denmark, Romania, Croatia, Czechia, Slovenia and Portugal, while attending the informal meeting of Western Balkan and EU Foreign Ministers, held in Helsinki, Finland.

The meetings focused on the EU enlargement perspective with the Western Balkan countries, and Albania’s ambition to have a positive response for the EU accession negotiations this October.

Minister Cakaj reconfirmed that Albania has delivered with all of the technical conditions for opening the EU accession negotiations, which is supported by the progress report of the European Commission.

The Minister also said that the country is continuing to deepen the reforms, which gives them confidence that the EU answer in October will be positive.

The Slovenian Minister, MIroslav Cerar, praise Albania’s progress with the criteria, and assured Minister Cakaj for his country’s support.
