The Albanian flag was raised for the first time in a British government
building, for the anniversary of the national holidays. The flag was
raised with an official ceremony in the Barking neighborhood of Greater
London, where most of Albanians live.
The ceremony was organized by one of the biggest and more active association of Albanians in Britain “Hope Programme”. The Barking Municipality allowed this official ceremony.
After a meeting between the ambassadors of Albania and Kosovo with representatives of Albanian associations in Britain, the Albanian citizens continued the celebrations which culminated with a ceremonial raise of the Albanian flag.
Flutura Bara, from Shpresa Programme, told Top Channel that this is the first time that a government institution raises an Albanian flag in the UK. She thanked the local authorities for allowing them to learn the Albanian language and celebrate the national holidays.
The Albanian Embassy in London organized a reception with the diplomatic body after a concert with Albanian artists in London.
