Recent official data show that after two difficult years, exports are being revived again.

The Institution of Statistics (INSTAT) reported that Albanian companies exported this January 15.5% more than the same period of one year ago, bringing an additional 22 million EUR to the economy.

INSTAT data show that this growth was led by minerals and electricity, although exports in this group had kept dropping for years due to lower prices for oil and chrome in international markets.

However, the situation is getting better, giving a direct impact on the Albanian economy. INSTAT says that compared to last January, exports of energy and minerals have almost doubled.

Manufacturing industry exports also grew since 2015, with shoes and textiles leading with 7% more than one year ago.

Construction materials ranked third, another sector that also had kept dropping during the past two years. This year it grew with 15%, compared to one year ago.
