Some representatives of the Albanian diaspora have recently rejected the two ways of voting proposed by the government, the electronic one and the vote through foreign consulates. At this stage of the process the expression of will through mail is most likely for them.
Bledar Milaqi, of the Movement for Free Diaspora group, said: “We have tried both models, such as the electronic one, as well as the vote at diplomatic missions, in security and logistical reasons. We have made our suggestion to the CEC for postal voting.”
Another representative, Nador Bakalli, spoke in similar lines: “Time and experience are two of the biggest problems we have. We have an unclear registration base at the moment. So we have technical aspects in that the person who registers must declare the address, but at the moment the process of verifying the address by the Albanian side is unclear.”
Bledar Milaqi, Movement for Free Diaspora: “The CEC suggestion is that the emigrants’ votes arrive at the CEC and be counted in the respective CEAZ, while our request is to avoid the alienation of the will, the diaspora votes should be counted in the CEC. “
Meanwhile, the working group is nearing the end of the report and next week the State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi will present to the Regulatory Commission the manner and form of how voting from outside Albania can be applied, while the most secure one is considered by post.
