Starting from this weekend, every Albanian who lives in Great Britain
can apply for the biometric passport and the biometric identity card at
the Albanian Embassy Consulate in London.
The Albanian Foreign and Interior Ministries, in cooperation with the Aleat Company that produces passports, and the Albanian embassy in London, reached this achievement afterworking for one year. It started with the digital testing of applicants, the construction of the necessary infrastructure in the embassy, the installation of the electronic equipments and their coordination with the system installed in Tirana. They also spread the news to the Albanian community in Great Britain.
This is one of the most welcomed action of the Albanian Embassy in London. Ambassador Mal Berisha declared for Top Channel that the office was open by the care that the government takes of the Albanian citizens in several European countries. This helps in guarding the national identity of our fellow citizens, helps their travel opportunities to Albania and the other countries where they can go today without a visa.
So far, the Albanian citizens can receive passports from Italy, Greece, Belgium and the United States of America. The same services is expected soon in Switzerland.
