The Institution of Statistics has reported that the Albanian economy grew with 4.3% in the second trimester of the year, assisted by the positive situation with the energy and the increased industrial production.

In the past three years the economic growth has mostly come from new investments in construction. This year its profile has changed. INSTAT reported that the construction shrank with 2.16% during the second trimester, compared to the last year, while the economy was mostly supported by the increased consumption of families.

“The final consumption of the population increased with 3.35%”, said the INSTAT Director, Delina Ibrahimi.

This is the second trimester that the economy is increasing with more than 4%, surpassing the expectancy of the IMF and WB.

Both these prestigious investments foresaw an economic slowdown to 3.5% due to the completion of two large projects, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline and the Devoll Cascade.

The factual economic growth for the first half of the year is 4.4%, 1% above the IMF and WB predictions.
