The European long jump champion, Albanian Izmir Smajlaj, landed at the
Tirana airport where he was welcome by his relatives and friends.
The 23-year-old didn’t hide emotions for this success. He dedicated the medal to all Albanians.
“This medal goes to all Albanians, my supporters, my friends and family. It was a very strong race. I had my friends and family there who gave me courage to make it”, the Champion said.
The Athletic World Championship is held this August in London. Smajlaj says he will try to win medals.
“The World Championship will be this August. It is still early to make promises. We are not politicians to promise like that. But my objective is to be in the medal area”, Smajlaj said.
Smajlaj won gold medals in Belgrade, breaking 2 national records.
