“I’m here to underline that Albania represents today a land of hope for
the Italian busienssmen. We started this travel in Puglia, and it will
continue in other phases for several months, to give a simple and clear
message: we welcome all the businessmen who want to become
international, starting with the competitive workforce, a competitive
taxation and good will from oiur government to facilitate all the
procedures, and making these projects to be followed by others, which
maybe today will need more breathing space for their businesses”.
A few days after this declaration, with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, opening the doors to Italian businessmen, the Albanian businessmen who live and work in Italy asked the Prime Minister to turn his eyes to them too.
During the conference organized by ASSOA Albania, the Association of Albania Businessmen in Italy, they expressed their interest to invest in their homeland and not be simply a source of remittances, but also powerful contributors of the economic recovery.
“There are 38.137 Albanian businessmen in Italy. We cannot forget that there are also 1460 businessmen in Albania. You also have to speak with your people in emigration, who are the hope of Albania. It is a great potential for Albania. We should not forget the energy of these boys who have built businesses with their extraordinary sacrifices”, declared Nikolin Gjeloshi, President of ASSOAlbania.
According to the Italian Chamber of Commerce, the Albanians are 6.6% of the foreign businessmen in Italy, concentrated in Lombardia and Tuscany, but during this meeting they also underlined the obstacles that they meet in Albania for investments.
“In Italy I can find every information that I want. There are more opportunities and more seriousness in Italy from the bureaucratic point of view. Institutions in Albania are much behind. Businessmen expect more, give more and they work for this, but we don’t find this in Albania. I find indifference in offices, can’t find a way to invest and how to operate”, declared Gjergj Ndreu, businessman from Emilia Romagna.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Business, Brunilda Paskali, who was present in this conference, promised on behalf of the government to start a dialogue between the businessmen and the government for improving the business climate.
“I trust that the government, the Prime Minister and our Minister of Economy, will discuss this part very soon, because the Albanian investors in countries like Italy are a very important part that can contribute in the development of our economy. I was impressed that there were 1050 Albanian businesses in this area of Italy”, Paskali declared.
