The Greek Prime Minister, Aleksis Tsipras, held a phone conversation
with his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama, as reported by the Greek
public television, ERT.

Preliminary information show that the conversation was realized after a request of the Albanian Prime Minister. Both leaders have underlined the importance of reinforcing the bilateral relations for the best interest of both people and of the region in general.

Prime Minister Tsipras said that the Greek side remains committed to this effort, but he said that recent nationalistic rhetoric undermine the consolidation of a trust climate, much needed for the progress of bilateral relations.

On the same time he, he noted the need to generate more concrete results for the cooperation between both countries, a fact for which Greece has started a series of initiatives.

Tsipras underlined that protecting rights of Greek ethnic citizens is imperative for the relations between both countries, and a basic condition for the European progress of Albania.
