The final variant of the territorial reform will be selected from two
maps, one that foresees 39 local units, and one that foresees 47.
In a second meeting behind closed doors, the Territorial Reform Commission and the Local Government Minister, Bledi Cuci, in presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, informed the Parliament Members of the Socialist Parliamentary Group and those of the Socialist Movement for Integration about the five variants that have been proposed.
After the presentation, the discussion focused on two variants that have been considered as central, the second and the third variants of the new territorial map.
Sources in this meeting declared for Top Channel that the Socialist Party Parliament Members, Pandeli Majko and Blendi Klosi, proposed that the final variant that will be approved by the Commission should be that with 39 municipalities, but it should loan elements from the third variant with 47 municipalities.
This means that for big municipalities like Tirana, Vlora and Elbasani, they should preserve the division that foresees the third variant, which is having Kamza with its own Municipality, together with Himara and Cerrik.
This means that the final variant might have a total of 45 municipalities. The decision for the final variant will be taken this Friday from the Commission of the Territorial Reform.
