The Albanian government wants to hire anther consulting company for
comparing the profits that the Albanian government will receive from the
agreement with the TAP consortium, the profits that come from the same
agreement done for Greece, with a ratio based on the investment in each
country.
The agreement of 2013 has a clause that gives the Albanian government the right to increase profits that influence the community where the pipeline goes through, if it is verified from a later agreement that Greece profits more.
The profits are about employment, infrastructure, building of roads, bridges or other projects for the community.
Not having the capacity to make this evaluation on its own, the government will hire a company that will offer financial and legal assistance to maximize the internal profits. TAP goes through Albania for 211 kilometers, starting from Bilisht, Korce, and to Seman, Fier.
The first construction works started last July in Corovoda, with the construction of some roads and bridges. The first investment value mounts up to 60 million EUR. The entire project will have the rehabilitation of 100 km or roads, reconstruction of 42 bridges and building 3 new ones.
