Albania takes leadership of the Energy Community

Ukraine is holding the 12th session of the Ministerial Council with the
member countries of the Community of Energy, the presidency of which is
now taken by Albania.
Minister Damian Gjiknuri presented the priorities of the Albanian Presidency and the main objectives, which will be the reform of the Community of Energy and the implementation of the recommendations that were proposed for creating an energy union.
“Today, more than ever, the contracting parties must understand the importance of exploiting the full potential of the Community of Energy, with the purpose of reforming the energy sector and creating a joint regulatory area with the EU”, Gjiknuri declared.
The final report for the implementation of the reforms in the member countries, which was approved by all members of the community and by all representatives of the European Parliament, they agreed that the resolution of the investment conflict with CEZ is necessary for starting the important reforms in the energy sector.
By request of Minister Gjiknuri, the Community of Energy added the Gas Corridor in the list of priorities, including the TAP project, as leader of this corridor.
