The Albanian government passed in principle the agreement with Italy and
Greece, through which the three states engage to to realize the
trans-Adriatic pipeline.

This 41 billion USD project will bring gas from Azerbaijan to Western Europe through Greece, Albania and Italy. It will cross 200 km of Albanian territory.

For Prime Minister Berisha, this is a historic agreement, since the project gives another dimension to Albania’s international position and has colossal economic profits.

“Only in Albania, the investment reaches 2 billion and creates 20.000 jobs, giving to our country an important position in energy”, Berisha declared.

The final decision for this giant project will be taken in mid 2013, and the works might start by the end of the year. The Albanian government is preparing the legislation and terrain for Albania’s gas network.

“Albania’s gas network will be used for heating and cooking, with lower costs for the families and increased living standards for all Albanians”, Berisha declared.
