The Deputy Foreign Minister, Odeta Barbullushi, reported in the
preparatory meeting for the ninth committee of the Stabilization and
Association between Albania and the European Parliament, which will be
held on November 9th and 10th in Brussels.

Odeta Barbullushi, Deputy.Foreign Minister: “Some of the aspects that I mention during my presentation are related to the fight against informality and its economic impact. The challenges; the recent economic developments; the plan of the Albanian government for reinforcing the energy sector, mainly with its capacity. The justice reform is also related to political dialogue. This is one of the most inclusive and challenging reforms for our country. I want to report with pleasure that both parties have got closer together, the majroity and the opposition. Not only as regards the necessity of this reform, but also for their position.”

Although the European Parliament Secretariat had booked the Strasbourg room for one hour, delays on budget voting made the meeting start 40 minutes later and last only 20 minutes.

Despite the good will of three European MPs, the meeting was held behind closed doors, as imposed by the Chairwoman of the Delegation, Monica Macovei, same as one year ago.

The German rapporteur, Fleckenstein, gave positive impressions after his last visit in Albania. The Deputy Chief of the Unit, Goerg Ziegler, reiterated the stance of the European Commission that the country is progressing with the implementation of the key priorities. He also underlined the importance of concluding the judiciary reform.

Confidential sources said for Top Channel that Macovei asked full data from Albania for the cases of MPs facing justice, high level organized crime, etc.
