Although the recent report of Reporters Without Borders has placed Albania at the 75th place, (last year it was 76th), this is not encouraging as critics remain almost the same.

The report mentions three journalists who were declared pressured: “Klodiana Lala’s house was attacked with a firearm in August. This happened one week after she had mentioned that an MP of the Socialist Party had ties with the gang led by Emiljano Shullazi.

“Alida Tota was injured, threatened, and she keeps working. She brought the story of a 17-year-old who died in a waste landfill. She was fired one day after calling the Municipality, asking for their version. She left to Sweden but didn’t stay there for long.”

As for Basir Collaku, RSF says he is considering leaving the country after realizing an interview with Dritan Zagani, which angered the Minister of Interior. He received threats and he is considering leaving the country.
